Members of Institute of informatics participated in the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme in Portugal

In May 2026, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (FERI), University of Maribor, participated in the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme Digital Transformation for the Enhancement of Heritage and Local Arts through Creative Tourism, hosted by the Polytechnic University of Portalegre, Portugal.

Seven FERI students took part in the programme under the mentorship of Maja Pušnik and Boštjan Šumak. Together with students from Portugal, Poland, and Lithuania, they worked in interdisciplinary international teams to develop innovative digital prototypes for creative tourism. The projects focused on promoting authentic tourism experiences, showcasing cultural heritage, and engaging local communities through modern digital technologies.

As part of the programme, our team delivered a series of lectures and hands-on workshops on applying artificial intelligence to user experience design and prototype development. Students gained practical experience using AI tools for requirements analysis, user persona development, wireframing, interactive prototyping, and evaluation design.

The programme provided an excellent opportunity for international collaboration, knowledge exchange, and competence development in the fields of artificial intelligence, digital transformation, cultural heritage, and creative tourism. Working in international teams enabled students to strengthen their technical expertise, interdisciplinary collaboration, and intercultural communication skills while developing innovative digital solutions.
