On September 19th 2016, Lucija Brezočnik, a graduate of the Informatics and Technologies of Communication master’s study program, won the 1st place in the Student Paper Contest at the 25th International Electrotechnical and Computer Science Conference ERK 2016 organised by the IEEE Slovenia Section in Portorož.
Her article Feature selection in classification based on particle swarm optimization written under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Vili Podgorelec presents a new method for the problem of finding informative attributes in high-dimensional data. She is the first female winner in the history of this competition. She qualified for the regional competition in IEEE Region 8, which includes Europe, Middle East and Africa. Congratulations Lucija!
