About the Committee
The decision on the establishment of the Committee for Research Ethics of the Institute of Informatics, University of Maribor, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Informatics (abbreviated title: KER UM FERI II) was adopted at the meeting of the Institute of Informatics on 8 January 2025 (Minutes of the Institute of Informatics, No. 01/2025, Decision No. 4).
According to the Decision, the Committee is composed of the Chairperson, Prof. Dr. József Györkös, and two members, Prof. Dr. Marjan Heričko and Prof. Dr. Tatjana Welzer, all three from the Institute of Informatics, UM FERI.
The Committee will base its assessment solely on applications from higher education teachers, researchers and students who are the authors, supervisors or responsible promoters of the research, research thesis or project (eligible applicants).
Responsibilities of the Committee
The scope of the assessment covers the basic principles of ethical conduct: responsibility, reliability, respect and fairness, and, in accordance with the application, the panel may focus only on specific aspects of conduct in the context of the research proposal, the research project or the thesis.
As an advisory body, the Panel does not prescribe or reject research proposals, research or research projects. The Panel shall not monitor the adequacy of the conduct of research, either on its own initiative or at the suggestion of ineligible proposers.
In the review process, the members of the committee shall follow the principles of the Code of Ethical Conduct of the University of Maribor and the European Code of Conduct for Research Ethics, ALLEA All European Academies, Revised Edition 2023.
