Lucija Brezočnik, the first female winner in the history of the IEEE Slovenia Section Student Paper Contest and thereby qualified for the contest at the level of the entire IEEE Region 8, has achieved another success. In the competition of winning student papers from Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, the expert committee ranked her article titled Feature selection for classification using the particle swarm optimization among the top five. All five finalists will compete for the first three places with the oral presentation of their papers during the EUROCON 2017 conference held this year in July in Ohrid, Macedonia.
Lucija Brezočnik is a teaching assistant at the Institute of Informatics at FERI and doctoral student of Computer Science and Informatics under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Vili Podgorelec. Her main research area is swarm intelligence.
